MUTUAL AID WELLNESS COLLECTIVE
Who We Are
Mutual Aid Wellness Collective is a volunteer-led project providing wound care, urgent care, first aid supplies and health education at pop-up clinics in Buncombe County, NC.
What We Do
We offer free pop-up clinics within Buncombe County, NC for uninsured and under insured community members. While we are not a replacement for primary care or emergency care, we seek to serve as a bridge to comprehensive care for people for whom medical care is inaccessible or inadequate.
Why It Matters
As a secular free clinic we orient ourselves alongside people who do not have sufficient access to healthcare for any reason: income, legal status, housing status, marginalized identity, etc. The members of our community who receive healthcare services and resources from us benefit from care that is non-judgemental, non-coercive and compassionate, on top of being free of charge. The providers who volunteer with us build relationships with fellow community members outside of the typical provider-patient hierarchy, co-creating a liberatory future focused on harm reduction, autonomy and care.
